Learn about The River

We seek to bring the Living Water of Jesus to dry and thirsty souls in our community.

Make Disciples who become Disciple Makers.

What is a disciple?

Someone who obeys Jesus.

What is a disciple maker?

A disciple of Jesus who is investing his/her life, faith, and learnings into another person or group of people who God has called him/her to disciple.

It started with a vision.

Lead Pastor Brian Clark received a vision from The Lord during his personal prayer time.

He heard the Holy Spirit speak the words "a flood, a flood, a flood..." which was followed by a vision of water covering dry ground. He knew that The Lord was communicating  to him that through The River Community Church, God wanted to bring the Living Water of Jesus Christ to the community of Dalton and make disciples who become disciple-makers.

Our Beliefs

God

We believe in the one true God who has revealed Himself as the eternally self-existent, self-revealed “I AM,” and has further revealed Himself as embodying the principles of relationship and association, by simultaneously existing as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. (Deut. 6:4; Mark 12:29; Isa. 43:10, 11; Matt. 28:19).

Jesus

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, who was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, was crucified on Calvary for our sins, and bodily rose from the dead; and that he has been exalted to the throne of God where he is the only mediator between God and man. He alone is Lord and Savior. We believe that through his death, burial and resurrection we have personal salvation and power for victorious living. (Colossians 1:15-18; 1 Timothy 3:16; John 1:1,14, 14:6; 20:28; 1 Timothy 3:16; Isaiah 9:6; Philippians 2:5-6; 1 Timothy 2:5; Acts 4:12; Revelation 1:8)

Holy Spirit

We believe that the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God who proceeds from the Father and the Son. The Holy Spirit is received by believers as they trust Jesus Christ for salvation. The Holy Spirit empowers believers to be witnesses for Jesus Christ and equips believers with gifts for ministry. (Ephesians 1:13; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 12:2-11)

The Bible

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God, a revelation from God to men, the infallible rule of faith and conduct, and superior to conscience and reason, but not contrary to reason. (2Tim. 3:15-17; 1 Pet. 1:23-25; Heb. 4:12). The canonical books of the Old and New Testaments are the primary rule and authority for faith, morals, and service, against which all other authorities must be measured.

Salvation

We believe that all have sinned and stand in need of redemption, which is received by grace through faith in Jesus Christ and in His death, burial, and resurrection. Those repenting of sin and being born again become children of God.  Salvation is a gift from God, not a result of our good works or of any human efforts. The inward evidence to the believer of his salvation is the direct witness of the Spirit. The outward evidence to all men is a life of holiness. (1 Thess. 4:7, 2 Tim.1:9).

 (Ephesians 2:8-9; John 1:11-13; 3:1-9,15-18; Galatians 2:16, 3:8; Titus 3:5; Romans 10:9-10; Acts 16:31; Hebrews 9:22; Romans 3:21-24; Romans 8:16; 1 Thess. 4:7, 2 Tim. 1:9)

Sanctification

We believe by the power of the Holy Spirit we strive to obey the command, “Be ye holy, for I am holy.” Sanctification is the will of God for all believers, and should be earnestly pursued by walking in obedience to God’s Word (Heb. 12:14; 1 Pet. 1:15, 16; 1 Thess. 5:23, 24; 1 John 2:6). God’s sanctifying grace begins with God’s work of regeneration, sometimes referred to as “being born again.” It is God’s work in us as we continually turn to Him and seek to be perfected in His love. Sanctification is the process by which the Holy Spirit works to replace sin with the fruit of the Spirit. With John Wesley, we believe that a life of holiness and ultimately “entire sanctification” should be the goal of each individual’s journey with God.

The Church

We believe the church is the holy Body of Christ, the habitation of God through the Spirit, with divine appointments for the fulfillment of her great commission. Each believer is an integral part of the church, and their names are written in the Lamb’s Book of Life. (Matthew 28:18-20; I Thess. 2:4)

Baptism

We believe through Holy Baptism we are united in Christ’s death in repentance of our sins; raised to new life in Him through the power of the resurrection; incorporated into the Body of Christ; and empowered through the work of the Holy Spirit to go on to perfection. Holy Baptism is God’s gracious gift to us, flowing from the once for all work of Christ Jesus, and our pledge to follow as His disciples. Holy Baptism may be performed by sprinkling, pouring, or immersion. The outward and visible sign of Holy Baptism is water. Candidates are baptized “in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19).

Holy Communion

We believe through Holy Communion we are invited into fellowship (koinonia) with Christ Jesus who is spiritually present in the whole of the Sacrament; we participate in the communion of saints with the Church universal; and we are given a foretaste of God’s eternal banquet, the marriage supper of the Lamb. The Sacrament may be offered to all who repent of sin and desire to draw near to God and lead a life of obedience to Christ. (Matthew 26:26-29)

Marriage

We believe God created marriage. It is a covenant made between a man and a woman that makes them one (Gen 2: 22, 24; Matt 19: 5-6).
